Sometimes when I hear people talk about the uselessness of the internet in the christian faith I can't help but shudder. I, obviously, love the internet. I find everything I need on here. Got a problem with aphids on the roses? Google it. Need to potty train your little boy? Google it. Why is my drain gurgling?! Google it.
And every single time, without fail, I can find an answer. It's great time we live in for the relay of information.
No longer do I have to figure it out or go to the library and get a book that is 95% of information I do not need to get the 5% I do need. Yay for the internet!! Of course its not only information and help, it also has the underbelly, which I am not down playing. Its tempting to have so much as a click of a mouse. But with the good comes the bad, at least in this world.
Is that a reason to completely forsake the internet? NO, (unless you have some sort of addiction ex. porn or gambling)
My reasoning? PAUL. Paul traveled A LOT. He went from town to town preaching about Jesus. He was eager to tell EVERYONE he met about Jesus. He couldn't hold it in, it reverberated around him! Such a great guy that Paul. He used every resource available, which sadly enough, was walking there or letters. Thank God for those letters, but I digress. If Paul who would do anything possible to reach people for Jesus, do you not think he would use the internet? He WOULD. He would use every platform available. Facebook, tumbler, pinterest, blogger probably even a wordpress on top of it! He would be commenting and praising and liking and favoriting all those worship videos on Youtube! He wouldn't stop either. He would encounter some those atheist trolls and he would just keep on going. He would probably be sad that he couldn't help them, but he would pray. Oh my how he would pray. This is a man
that would have loved the internet, the access to people around the
world! No boundry's of language, there's a translator for that.
This is the man who said, "In hard
traveling year in and year out, I’ve had to ford rivers, fend off
robbers, struggle with friends, struggle with foes. I’ve been at risk in
the city, at risk in the country, endangered by desert sun and sea
storm, and betrayed by those I thought were my brothers. I’ve known
drudgery and hard labor, many a long and lonely night without sleep,
many a missed meal, blasted by the cold, naked to the weather." On top of that he was jailed, beaten, and shipwrecked.
I just know that if he heard anyone say that Christians shouldn't use the internet, he would shudder and then he would tell them a story about how much he went through, so that one day we could sit in front of a screen and tell people about Jesus, much easier. By telling them about his story, his pain, but ultimately his prize. Heaven.
I felt this picture was appropriate for the day. Thank you so much for visiting Seeds of Hope and Praise!
I hope you leave here with a little more hope than you came with. Jesus loves you.
